Mintealogy Seminar | University of Cambridge
On May 24th, the University of Cambridge hosted an exceptional and memorable event: the Mint Tea for Peace seminar, organized by NANA1807 in collaboration with the Centre for Islamic Studies at the University of Cambridge . This unique seminar offered a unique opportunity to discover Mintealogy , a discipline that explores the multiple facets of Mint Tea , not only as a beverage, but also as a vehicle for peace, sharing and culture.

A unique sensory and intellectual experience
Under the leadership of Professor Amira Bennison , President of the Center for Islamic Studies, and with the active participation of the co-founders of Maison NANA1807, Engie and Emma , the seminar allowed the students, researchers and teachers present to immerse themselves in a fascinating world where the art of mint tea becomes much more than a simple culinary tradition. It became the starting point for profound reflections on hospitality, fraternity, and building bridges between cultures.
Mintéalogie invites an exploration of the universal values that underpin the practice of Mint Tea : conviviality, openness, and, above all, peace. By sharing their expertise and vision, Engie and Emma enlightened participants on the impact of Mint Tea in promoting intercultural understanding and world peace.
A rich and inspiring program
Among the highlights of the seminar:
- Sharing entrepreneurial experiences , particularly those of French Muslim entrepreneurs who co-founded Maison NANA1807 , in a European context sometimes marked by tensions surrounding Islam. This authentic testimony sparked a sincere exchange with the participants, combining inspiration, resilience and commitment to a more inclusive society.
- Sensory tasting of emblematic teas from Maison NANA1807 – MOUIMA , GOOD HOPE and ONE&ONLY – and olfactory exploration of the subtle aromas of mint and tea blends (green, white, rooibos).
-
Unusual recipes and tasting of pastry creations:
MOUIMA shortbread , gazelle horns , almond and lemon ghriba , anise-almond fekkas and GOOD HOPE macaroons infused with rooibos, mint and bergamot .
This highlight allowed us to anchor the Mintéalogie experience in a contemporary reality , by illustrating how the values of Mint Tea — peace, hospitality, transmission — can interact with current issues such as diversity, identity, and committed entrepreneurship.

A moment of peace and gratitude
The seminar took place in a warm atmosphere, filled with listening and curiosity. The participants expressed their enthusiasm for this new approach, at once sensory, cultural and spiritual, to Mint Tea . The nuances of MOUIMA , the freshness of GOOD HOPE , the elixir of pleasure of ONE&ONLY awakened the senses as much as they nourished reflection.
NANA1807 would like to express its deep gratitude to Professor Amira Bennison and the entire team at the Centre for Islamic Studies at the University of Cambridge for their welcome, kindness, and openness. This seminar was a valuable encounter, at the crossroads of heritage, dialogue, and peace.
An invitation to other institutions
NANA1807 now hopes to extend this experience to other major schools, universities, and institutions. Mintéalogie is not just a celebration of Mint Tea : it is a path to dialogue, intercultural education, and an awakening to essential human values.
May other places of study, in turn, become havens of tea and peace.
