In Rosières, hamlet of Lunery, the Mint Tea served by the master of ceremonies, Zakaria Nánã, has a refined flavor.

Mint tea is the symbol of hospitality and friendliness of the Maghreb countries. Often, it is the head of the family, or the eldest son, who prepares this delicious thirst-quenching drink to honor his guests. In Rosières, a hamlet of Lunery known more for its famous cooks, the mint tea served by Master of Ceremonies Zakaria NÂNÂ has an even more refined flavor, that of a son's love for his mother. A story from the land of a thousand and one nights, a fairy tale.

Zakaria NANA Founder of Maison NANA1807 Maison du Thé à la Mint

From an immigrant background, Zakaria, the youngest of five children, arrived with his family when there was a need for labor in Berry. The integration happened quite naturally and Zakaria grew up combining her two cultures, French and Moroccan.  Zakaria has  traveled a lot around the world and each time he came to Rosières, he savored with delight the incomparable mint tea of his mother, Mouimi. “Your tea is a marvel, one day I will sell it all over the world” he told her with tenderness. He didn't think he would make this promise but when the first woman in his life died in 2015, to pay tribute to her and keep his word, he decided to create “Berry-Moroccan mint tea”.

It is in Rosières that Maison NANA1807 was born in 2020 in the family home and is assembled, handcrafted,  Mouima mint tea as well as the five other recipes that followed it. These are organic quality teas which are selected and essences which enhance the taste. Zakaria had the help of “nose” for the development of the different mint teas “Mintalogy is to mint teas what oenology is to wines, it is a science, a culture.

When the Master of Ceremonies, Zakaria, the youngest, elegantly serves us Mouima tea, we are transported into a world of flavors and subtleties, we savor in silence, we delight in this nectar. “Quality tea does not need sugar to be appreciated” explains Zakaria and adds “Tea does not like artificial light. During assembly and order preparation, natural light is preferred. It is favorable to the mind and the body.” When you discover that after the infusion, the benefits of the tea leaves used as a facial mask and the tea not drunk to boost the plants, you are definitely won over.

If the smells are very present in the living room, it is because the scented candles and incense sticks prettily placed on a small silver table let the natural flagance of their ingredients float in the air with mint as a base. A project that is coming to life and will soon complete the collection of mint teas.

Zakaria NÂNÂ wishes to create in Rosières a garden of various mints such as peppermint, bergamot among others and thus ensure the needs for production.

But before that, on May 21, 2022, a gathering on the theme of “mint tea” and a competition with many visitors expected, will make Maison NANA1807 in Rosières the first world center for mint tea. Mouima can, from where she is, be proud of her son.

While waiting for this event, you can book a Mint tea party meeting for fun  , while staying in Berry, travel to the land of mint tea with its traditions, its ceremonial, and its delicious sweets.
