Ritual & Secrets of Mint Tea
Honey or sugar?
Many Mint Tea Lovers take their Mint Tea without sugar… However, adding sugar is a practice appreciated by many, especially in Moroccan Mint Tea.
At Maison NANA1807, we serve Mint Tea without sugar… and we recommend the addition of natural sugar for those who like to taste Sweet Mint Tea.
To sweeten your Mint Tea, here is our favorite sweeteners:
Organic Honey
Produced by bees, it is a very natural form of sweetener that requires virtually no treatment before use. Liquid honey will crystallize over time, but whipped honey will remain soft (like butter) indefinitely. With the wide variety of honeys, you will appreciate Mint Tea flavoured with this natural supplement.
Organic Stevia leaves
This less common sweet selection is actually an herbal product that is much sweeter than sugar. The botanical name is Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni. In the preparation of Mint Tea, all you need is a leaf or a few hundred grams to obtain a deliciously sweet Mint Tea.
Organic Agave syrup
Agave syrup comes from the fluid inside the blue Agave plant. It is the same plant that is used to make tequila…
Agave nectar requires several processing steps before it can be consumed. Which often means the loss of its natural health benefits. However, a teaspoon of Agave syrup is enough to sweeten a teapot (about 700 cl) of Mint tea.
At Maison NANA1807, our Mint Tea Master particularly likes Honey because the flavours are complementary with Mint Tea. Here are some suggestions for an experience of your Mint Tea:
- Orange blossom honey with a Moroccan Mint Tea ( Mouima or Green City )
- Clover honey with a Flavoured Mint Green Tea ( Biarritz )
- Eucalyptus honey with a Mint Rooibos ( Good Hope )
- Sage honey with the intense flavours of a Flavoured Mint Tea ( Alhambra )
- Avocado honey with a Earl Gray Green Tea with Mint (new recipe to come in the next collection of Maison NANA1807)
