The season opened at the Saint-Florent-sur-Cher Christmas market last weekend. With the Château des Florentais as a backdrop, the market offered a prestigious and welcoming setting for exhibitors and visitors.

Much more than just a backdrop, this castle tells the story of centuries of history :

• It appeared as early as the 12th century, at the gates of the kingdom of France, facing the English.

• Devastated during the Wars of Religion, sold in 1625 to Henri II de Condé, then passed on to the Grand Condé during the Fronde

• Owned by the Condé family until 1727, before passing through various hands

• Transformed in the 20th century by Monsieur Brunet into a neo-Louis XIII castle

• The 15th-century keep , a listed historical monument, still dominates the site

• Purchased in 1936, it now houses the Town Hall and welcomes visitors

On Saturday afternoon, we were invited to participate in the Dun-sur-Auron Christmas market .
