Maison NANA1807 - Maison du Thé à la Menthe Plant Trees and Plants (Mint, ..)

وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ - And plants like trees bow down (Quran 55: 6)

For each box of Mint Tea sold , Maison NANA1807 undertakes to plant a tree or a plant, in collaboration with the collective " La Ruche "in Rosières.

The aim of this initiative is to educate children about the importance of trees and plants to life on earth. Trees are felled by millions, apparently to support our lifestyles.
Over fifty percent of the world's population now lives in cities, and children are now increasingly removed from nature.

This project is about going beyond the classroom and science lab and making connections between our lifestyles and the impact of our behavior on nature.

However, forests function as a system of regulation and supply for the planet. Forests are the best collectors of water that eventually become rivers:

> acting on the climate through the humidity they generate, and they regulate the climate by absorbing solar radiation,

> acting as carbon dioxide storehouses

> retaining soils to prevent erosion.

Forests are also host to millions of animal and plant species. There is a dazzling unity and coherence in this very diversity of creation. Although much of this flora and fauna is unknown to us, they collectively contribute to the well-being of the planet and naturally benefit humanity.

To describe our natural environment, the Qur'an uses the term "Khalq" (الخلق - Creation). This word is derived from the root Kh L Q in Arabic and there are 261 verses in the Quran which are derived from this root in its various grammatical forms. The very first revelation of the Quran contains the verb khalaq (created) derived from this root. This verse is translated as: "Read in the name of your Lord who created" (Quran 96: 1).

The clear implication here is that we are part of the entire creation process set in motion by The Creator. The Quran which manifests this totality, this biological diversity, is then a manual of life transaction for the human community. It lays the foundation for conducting our business in creation. On one level it is about preserving body and soul and our relationship with the natural order, on another level it is about the communities of beings who fly, crawl and swim and at the other is the cosmos, forests and rivers.

The Islamic corpus which deals with these questions can be described as “Ilm ul Khalq (Knowledge of creation) which has been a forerunner of the concept of modern ecology, for fourteen centuries. Maison NANA1807 - Maison du Thé à la Menthe
